Two days ago, we posted what we like to think was a “semi-confirmation” that legendary Transformers comics writer Simon Furman would be inducted into the Transformers Hall Of Fame this year. A tweet from IDW CEO Chris Ryall certainly seemed to indicate as much.
Today, Hasbro has announced the two human inductees for this year’s event, and we were right about furman. However, we did not expect to see the late, great Chris Latta go in as well, and we couldn’t be happier.
Latta, for those that don’t know, was a stand-up comic and character actor – his real name is Chris Collins; YouTube his name for some TV appearances – who also made a career in voice acting. Aside from portraying iconic villain Cobra Commander on G.I. Joe, Latta will forever be linked, in the eyes and ears of Transformers fans, as the voice behind Starscream, Wheeljack, and Sparkplug Witwicky.
